WOYWW 219

This is a quick one for a change as I am actually in the mood to be crafting and with a deadline to meet, that is a good thing.
The items I was working on last week all had to be put on hold when I learned that a lovely couple from my church are about to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary. Of course my first thought was to make them a card. So I had just started on that when I had an e-mail inviting us to a surprise party for them on Saturday, along with a request for me to make a card for everyone at the party to sign (about 30 I think), so now I have two cards to finish for Saturday. That sounds like plenty of time, but with our thermometer registering 38 degrees on our shady porch this week - goodness knows what it is out in the sun - I have to work in the early morning or the evening as I can't touch any of the papers when I am so hot.
So here is my desk on Tuesday evening.
I have turned to the lovely Heartfelt Creations Bella Rose set of stamps and dies again, this time working in yellows and browns. My copic markers are out as usual when I am working, and on the left is my set of Coloursoft pencils. On top of them is one of my folders of magnetic sheets to hold dies. Then there's a couple of ink pads and a messy, inky sponge, my copic pen colour chart, and an empty tea mug. Tea is still my drink of choice. Even on the hottest days it is more refreshing than anything else. In the background is a grumpy Arwen, ousted from her desk again, and sulking by the window. I had better get on and move my work because she'll be back and sitting on it, the minute I take my eyes off her.
Do visit our lovely hostess Julia over at her Stamping Ground if you would like to see what other crafter's are up to this week. I shall be linking up with them first thing tomorrow morning.

  1. Poor Arwen :-( But tough - you have work to do ;-). Looks as though you will be rather busy in the time you have available.

  7. I really couldn't cope with that sort of heat...think I must have been a Viking in a previous life! I love the new header to your blog...it's really craftylicious :-)
I have lots of hints about the blankets, possibly the best is to use it as batting for quilts. I might use the oldest for that!

  9. I usually work better when I have a deadline but I'm not sure how I'd cope in the heat. It's supposed to be hitting 25c in the UK today and that's hot for us! I love how you've stored your Copics. Hugs. Pam#33

  11. Hi Kate, I'm sure you'll get there in time with the two cards - and they're bound to be lovely. I envy you the heat and houses in Sunny Spain are better designed to cope than ours here in the UK.

Err, the crochet - my first problem is how you're supposed to twine the yarn round your fingers, it feels so alien to me. Not a good beginning :(

  12. I'm right there with you most of the summer. Those are my usual highs, too. Since it's been raining, it only FEEL LIKE that here, now due to the high humidity.

I love your beautiful images. I'm sure they will turn into a gorgeous card for the party.

BTW, Bleubeard is jealous of Arwen. He's not even allowed near my craft room.

Thanks for dropping by earlier. Happy only slightly late WOYWW from #1.

  13. Hi Kate,

Oh, I hate the heat. Luckily for me the weather here has been perfect! There is a noticeable temp difference while in the shade.

I'm sure you'll get both cards done for Saturday's celebration - and they'll be perfect!

Thank you for visiting me already. I knew it probably wouldn't be until today that I managed time to get around to desks.

    Happy WOYWW
    Cheers,

  14. Lovely organised desk, Kate, and what gooorgeous colours of those markers! Sounds as if you are keeping extremely busy.

Thanks for your lovely comment. I'm very excited about the move now - not long to go, and it's great to see such rapid improvement in the look of the whole house now.

I've been having awful problems posting comments on blogger for the past few days so I hope this gets through OK.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  15. Hi Kate, thank you for your comment on the Green Chicken Curry recipe. I thought you'd hop in to peek as I know about, and envy you so much, that fabulous trip round the Far East.

I did another full day's proper class with the hotel's head chef a year later - and as you say it was very intensive. Sheesh, I was exhausted afterwards. Glad to know you also use the paste :)

Hope you're having a good weekend - it's cool and about to rain here, sigh :( Please send sunshine ASAP!

    Hugs, Di xx
