It's confession time. Each week, when Julia hosts our Wednesday hop around blogland to see what what our friends are getting up to, I always show my main desk, which is generally pretty tidy, if not empty, because any important project I am working on has to be stored away, out of range of my cat who lives in my craft room. Well the rest of my room doesn't match up to that, so just for this week I am swinging the camera round through 90º to show you the 'other bit'. Shocking isn't it?
The trouble is, that even when you have a room set aside just for crafting, you always end up with bits and pieces that have no home. You know you don't want to throw them away, but you don't know where to store them, so you put them on the side for later. Gradually the pile grows until you have a mess like mine! That area is a black hole. Things go into it and are never seen again. Every now and then I buy another set of little drawers to put some of it in, but they are very unsatisfactory.
So watch this space, and one day in the not too distant future, it will all change. I have just ordered a lovely storage unit, filled with 'really useful boxes' in A4 and 12" x 12" sizes; hopefully enough of them to hold all of this and more. Two years ago my lovely other half bought me one of these units to hold all my papers and it is wonderful. I remember thinking then, that they were very slow at delivery, so I phoned them up and was told that it states very clearly on their site that delivery will take 28 days, so this time I am being very patient, and if I am lucky, the new unit will have arrived and been assembled, in time for me to have a good sort out in that quiet period just after Christmas, when there is no urgent craft to be done.
By the way, you probably can't see them very well in the photo, but on the right, immediately behind my little guillotine, there are two boxes filled with my stickles glitter glues. This is a useless way to store them, because they need to be upside down, so when I take one out to use, all the others keel over and I have to sort them all out again. So I was very impressed by the carousel that our lovely hostess Julia has been showing this week. I googled it and found one, so it is now on order, and that will be another storage problem sorted. Hopefully sometime fairly soon, I will be able to show off a corner transformed.

Fabulous work space, you made me feel at home! xx Jan (57)
I hope you don't think for one minute that we don't all have corners like that somewhere away from the cameras sight :-) I'm sure we all do Kate so don't feel too bad about yours.

Morning, thanks for letting me peek into your creative world this morning. I think all crafters are similar. lots of stash and not enough room!

I've seen the glitter carousel in real life - it really works well so I hope you're happy with yours!
Good luck with all your concerts - I sang soprano with a local choral society for many years but had to give it up when band came along. I still pop along to churches at Christmas to join - there is nothing so fab as belting out a carol!
Hugs, LLJ#36 xx
You post really struck a cord with me 'cos despite have zillions of drawers I still seem to have lots of 'stuff' which doesn't seem tpo fit anywhere!! I have a theory that it breeds while you are not using it.

Goodness, Kate, if you think that is untidy, you should just see my ARTHaven floor... That is my primary dumping ground these days. I console myself with the fact that with all the stuff on the floor, the carpet can't get dirty, so it's less work for Wonderwoman to do when she comes to help me on Wednesday afternoons!
I'm beginning to dislike my ARTHaven. Trouble is, I'm now hankering after when we move - hoping against hope to get the house we like (if someone else doesn't buy it first) and I've chosen a room that I could organise from scratch, and actually be able to store (and find) everything, and it would be a pleasure to work in! (Well, a girl can dream, can't she?)
Thanks for your visit - glad you like the cards. Still masses more to do and I just hope I don't go off the boil. There are other things I'm dying to get on with!
After what I said, several others have admitted to "staging," or at least, not being offended by it! Perhaps it's more prevalent than I thought.
Happy WOYWW,

Bravo Kate - I like honesty :) Am sure we all have our own little (or big) messy places. Off to see Julia and Jan tomorrow so will take a peek for myself at the Stickles Storage with luck - and if I remember of course.
Deffo, worth the wait for your storage unit BTW, I know you have one already so you know what I mean - delivery is slow but I love mine too.

My hubby is always complaining that my craft stuff is taking over the house - it certainly is at the mo as it is piled high with stuff for the craft fair - oh well it will all be sold by the end of Saturday - ha ha I wish!!!!! x Jo
With your new piece coming you will be busy getting it together. Can't wait to see.

if you think that is untidy, you should see mine (not a good idea for the faint-hearted!) good luck with the new storage
Happy very belated WOYWW !! Your untidy corner really isn't that bad, but I understand your dream of getting it all sorted. I have one of those storage units on my wish list - hopefully when we move to the farmhouse I can get one (or more). I have added my contact details to my blog, so you can send me your phone number. Looking forward to next week - fingers crossed we get some sunshine (it has been awful here). Ali x #19
Hi again Kate, oh Queen of the mince pies - I did see the stickles storage in real life at Julia's last Friday - and it should be just what you're after. Very neat and organised - and it takes 30 bottles, practical and a space saver to boot.
Am so pleased you hope to meet up with Ali - it suddenly clicked with me that you lived there so I do hope I helped in some way, it's such fun to meet up with other WOYWWERs. Have fun if you manage to meet - and hope the sun shines for you all!
Mojacar is on my wish list for another trip - we stayed just outside the village in a hotel last time we went and it was great to have both the village to stroll round in the evenings but also could get to the beach. That was before a lot of building work went on around the beach area though. I still have an Indalo somewhere :)
BTW, that paper piecing wasn't too fiddly - the patchwork Christmas tree is quite a large stamp. Main thing to remember is to use something like a Quickie glue pen and glue the image bit by bit, not the pieces of paper. Been there and learned the hard way :(
Hugs, Di xx
